Keep-it-simpleI believe in simple church. Simple church is a phrase that describes churches that operate in a way that is relatively free from some of the accoutrements most traditional, institutional churches focus much time, energy and resources on: church buildings, church programs, and lots of church staff to keep all of those things running. It’s not as simple as that, as there’s a time and a place where buildings, staff and programs don’t get in the way, but that’s more the exception than the rule. Simple church is also much more than what it’s not, but for the sake of this post, we’ll speak of simple church in these terms.

As much as I like the phrase simple church, I don’t think it really captures the key element of the movement that people desperately want and need, which is, simply put, relationships. The point of simple church is not that…
