1 Cor. 5 Devo

So, we’re meeting tonight and I’m doing the devo.  I thought I’d publish it here just to make it easier for me to find and use on my tablet. You could use it too if you want.

As a kid, I remember being amazed by Amish Friendship Bread. With just a few ingredients added every five days, it can quadruple in size forever. How do you think it works?AMISH-FRIENDSHIP-BREAD-VENOM

In our passage today, Paul talks about yeast.

Read 1 Corinthians 5:6-8.  What do you know about the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread?

Read Exodus 12:12-15.  Why do you think the Israelites were supposed to rid themselves of yeast?

Read 1 Corinthians 5:4-5, 9-12.  There was a man among them who had been committing an open sin.  Instead of dealing with his sin, they were boasting about how accepting they were as a group because of grace.  What was the “yeast” they were supposed to get rid of?  Why were they to get rid of it?  How were they to get rid of it? What should we do to live out this lesson in our own lives today?
